Hinduism, Buddhism, Paganism and Organized Religion in the East

China and India are pagan, a word which I deprecate if it is understood to imply inferiority but which if used in a descriptive and respectful sense is very useful. Christianity and Islam are organized religions. They say (or rather their several sects say) that they each not only possess the truth but that all other creeds and rites are wrong. But paganism is not organized: it rarely presents anything like a church united under one head: still more rarely does it condemn or interfere with other religions unless attacked first. Buddhism stands between the two classes. Like Christianity and Islam it professes to teach the only true law, but unlike them it is exceedingly tolerant and many Buddhists also worship Hindu or Chinese gods.

Popular religion in India and China is certainly polytheistic, yet if one uses this word in contrast to the monotheism of Islam and of Protestantism the antithesis is unjust, for the polytheist does not believe in many creators and rulers of the world, in many Allahs or Jehovahs, but he considers that there are many spiritual beings, with different spheres and powers, to the most appropriate of whom he addresses his petitions. Polytheism and image-worship lie under an unmerited stigma in Europe. We generally assume that to believe in one God is obviously better, intellectually and ethically, than to believe in many. Yet Trinitarian religions escape being polytheistic only by juggling with words, and if Hindus and Chinese are polytheists so are the Roman and Oriental Churches, for there is no real distinction between praying to the Madonna, Saints and Angels, and propitiating minor deities.

William James has pointed out that polytheism is not theoretically absurd and is practically the religion of many Europeans. In some ways it is more intelligible and reasonable than monotheism. For if there is only one personal God, I do not understand how anything that can be called a person can be so expanded as to be capable of hearing and answering the prayers of the whole world. Anything susceptible of such extension must be more than a person. Is it not at least equally reasonable to assume that there are many spirits, or many shapes taken by the superpersonal world spirit, with which the soul can get into touch?

The worship of images cannot be recommended without qualification, for it seems to require artists capable of making a worthy representation of the divine. And it must be confessed that many figures in Indian temples seem repulsive or grotesque, though a Hindu might say that none of them are so strange in idea or so horrible in appearance as the crucifix.

But the claim of the iconoclast from the times of the Old Testament onwards that he worships a spirit whereas others worship wood and stone is true only of the lowest phases of religion, if even there. Hindu theologians distinguish different kinds of avatras or ways in which God descends into the world: among them are incarnations like Krishna, the presence of God in the human heart and his presence in a symbol or image (arc).

It may be difficult to decide how far the symbol and the spirit are kept separate either in the East or in Europe, but no one can attend a great car-festival in southern India or the feast of Durg in Bengal without feeling and in some measure sharing the ecstasy and enthusiasm of the crowd.

In this particular book, you will find a portion in Ecclesiastes chapter 3:1 that says "to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" also you will find in another portion in Romans chapter 8:28 that says ...And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose... If you take your time to read through these scriptures, you will see clearly that you are not a mistake on the earth, you were not accidentally born to the earth. You have a definite purpose for your life, powerfully scripted by the master scriptwriter himself, Jesus Christ. Understand that that you are only living out a script written long before you were born, so friend find out your role in this movie called life, I am sure there are pleasant discoveries and surprises awaiting you

In God We Trust

I am looking over my lifetime of (74) years and I am just wondering what in the "hell" is happening to our country. I recently read on Yahoo News that some atheist is suing again to eliminate using "God" in the inauguration ceremonies in Washington. I got a little miffed and said to myself, "who in the hell does this guy think he is"? But, after I had enough mumble time to myself, I decided to get some questions answered for myself and perhaps for you also.

We hear everyday about the efforts to remove the word "God" from our public buildings, money, schoolbooks and anyplace where there is a reference to "God". I am concerned because we, the people out number these protestors by such an enormous number, yet. we sit back and say to ourselves or friends "who do these people think they are? Don't they know that we outnumber them?"

Well, I found the time to research atheism and went back to the days of Greek mythology and paganism. In just about every instance, atheism was defined as being without God or Godless. Sorry, I couldn't find anyplace where any society in history placed atheism as the law of the land. There were some instances where paganism and atheism flourished along with loose morals, orgies and a total lack of respect for others and providing children with guidance.

So, this brings me back to this person trying to sue in US Federal Court to eliminate God from the inauguration and not to use the Bible at the swearing in ceremony. Throughout history, where tolerance was evident in the beliefs of their citizenry, those societies flourished because they had the benefit of intelligent minds acting intelligently to the wishes of the masses. In no society were the atheists allowed to control the wishes of the masses.

Oh, we have had dictatorships control the masses with their mind games and ideologies throughout history. But, none survived. Since time has been measured, the human mind always revered some type of higher being, thought or event. People gave sacrifices to the Sun God, Moon God, Music God, Sea God, God of Love and many more that history has identified. The, Greeks were famous for having many Gods.

Since our nation was founded on Christian principles and God has been in EVERY part of our growth as a nation, then we must continue to remind those that don't want God in their lives, that the very reason they can dissent is because, we as a nation have provided for them to be able to dissent. BUT, go ahead; make your statements about "why you don't want God in your life". Free choice. However, that free choice does NOT give you the right to eliminate God from my life or my country.

If, this insults you or makes you irritated, is was meant to be. Take it as it exists or go live someplace where you can rule your own country, village or home. NOT here in America where millions of our young have fought, died and got crippled, only for you to be able to dissent. I am not advocating taking that right from you. That is the pillar of our society. Free choice and Freedom of Religion. BUT, again, don't think for one minute that you have earned or have the right to take over our country.

I, don't care whether you are a, Catholic, Protestant, Lutheran, Baptist or any other religion, but the simple thought that someone thinks they can deprive us of God in our daily life, should be barred from attending any gathering of any type where the National Anthem is sung or played. Associated Content and Constant Content are two ways you can start earning money with your writing. As your confidence and clips (published article) increase, you can move on to more lucrative markets like magazine or newspapers. It is possible to make a full time living as a freelance writer. Attracting Love - Can You Say "I Am Lovable!" Without Wincing?

I AM.

What am I, not how am I but what am I? And what in the world does that have to do with attracting love?

I am ____________. It is awfully easy to fill that sentence with negatives. Why is it so much easier to think of the stuff we don't like about ourselves instead of what we DO like?

Think of the blank at the end of the sentence, "I am___________." as a sort of energetic container. Wouldn't it be wild if this sentence contained the power our mind then uses to replicate whatever is placed inside? That being said, how do these feel?

I am fat. I am poor. I am broke. I am worried. I am getting old. I am never going to get anywhere. I am a failure. I am helpless.

Yikes! Need I go on?

Wouldn't it behoove us to fill that container very mindfully?

I am________.

Even though it would be awkward and artificial to start saying things like:

I am OK exactly how I am. I am making progress. I am better off than I was last year. I am continually learning and growing in understanding. I am calm more often. I am trusting my inner guidance more and more. I am seeing more and more of those amazing coincidences called synchronicities. I am learning to hear from my heart. I am tuning into my intuition regularly.

I know that my intuition always gives me words to work with if I just ask. I write..."I am"...with the intention of thinking of things that I can write that are optimistic and, most importantly, true.

Moving from there, I can put together some optimal thoughts:

I am strong. I am healthy. I am prosperous in all ways. I am wealthy. I am beautifully clothed and housed. I am loved. I am love. I am peace. I am happy. I AM happy.

As you read through the optimal list, if you have any reaction at all, just notice it. Where are you feeling it in your body? Your throat? Upper chest? Stomach? Take a couple of deep breaths while you lay your hand on the part of body where you feel pressure or heat. The most likely candidates are your throat, your belly, your head or your chest.

Something in these thoughts is setting off an alarm bell. Your mind is saying, "Oh no, can't go there. This feels fake." Your body is responding because there are actual biochemicals running through your system causing a physical reaction. I never knew this until very recently and this really is a key.

This rush of inner energy frequently carries with it forgotten hurts from experiences from years ago. Because there are chemical reactions that go along with emotions, I can be more compassionate with myself knowing that I really can't help getting upset. It is my body's way of processing past emotional pain.

When you notice this kind of reaction while you are doing any manifesting exercise, stop and follow these steps:

1. Take a deep breath and see how intensely you are reacting.
2. Rate it from 1 to 10 with one being low. Just admit to yourself that you are struggling a little right now.
3. Begin to calmly say these I AMs or any that come into your awareness.

I am starting now. I am lots of good things and I am going to start telling myself so. I am ok right where I am. I am learning more about myself all the time, and I love that about myself! I am catching myself more often when my thoughts are going in the wrong direction. I am proud of myself. I am feeling deep love and appreciation for myself. I am resilient. I am a tough cookie. I am very experienced in the school of life. I am choosing to see that anything is possible.

Take a deep breath. And another.

Now check and see if the intensity has changed.

Remember, anytime you make an affirmation that just doesn't feel good, it is an engraved invitation to find and reclaim your creative energy locked away in that forgotten hurt. Every time you choose your I am's, whether you feel anything or not, you strengthen your connection to your intuition. The stronger your intuition, the better your decisions. The decisions you make direct your course. That is where I am most surely guided. You will be too.
